Before you start, things you need to know:
We will always aim to have priority routes gritted before the road surface temperatures fall to 0°C.

Preventive gritting is carried out on:
- a and b roads
- commuter routes
- steep main roads to villages
- housing or industrial estates
- roads leading to main hospitals and large schools
Before you start, you will need to tell us:
- where you need the grit
- details of your request (e.g.: which street needs to be gritted or added to an existing gritting route, the location of grit bin, etc.)
- the reasons why it should be gritted or added
