We would urge before applying for a dropped kerb, you read the website to understand the Councils expectations.

Payments are now taken upfront and are nonrefundable so its important to make sure you meet the criteria. Application fees are an inital payment of £168 and contribution fees are £500.

You can always call us back if this is something you want to go ahead with. Please see below information:

  • we would expect you to have done your driveway first before applying for a dropped kerb (we recommend that driveway is done first and not the path)
  • if you have created a driveway and laid pebbles, you will need to create a 2-metre hard standing in a different material (so you aren’t pulling the pebbles onto our footway with your vehicle)
  • if your driveway slopes down towards the pavement you will need to put in drainage (it is illegal for rainwater to drain off your driveway onto our path and drainage must been installed to comply with the councils standards)
  • if your driveway is over 5 square metres it will require planning permission first ( this is a planning permission)
  • if there is a tree, manhole, street lighting column blocking the entrance to your driveway, it's likely there will be a high cost to you to move them (in some cases applications will be denied) (Highways will not fund the removal or relocation of any street furniture you will have to consider this cost before applying)
  • if you live on a classified road, you will need planning permission first before applying (list attached on link it is a rough guide and not 100% but its something to consider)
